What Is Diabetes In Layman’s Terms?

Diabetes is a complicated and complex disease, but you don’t need a PhD to understand what’s going on in your body if you’re diagnosed with the condition.  In layman’s terms, diabetes defines a condition where blood sugar levels are not normal.

Diabetes Dilemma To Make A ChangeWhen you eat food, most of it gets converted into glucose inside your body.  Why?  Because glucose is easily converted into energy and makes a great fuel source.  When glucose is detected, your pancreas secretes a hormone called insulin which helps your cells extract it from your blood and use it to perform various tasks in your body.

The problem occurs when your pancreas becomes damaged, lazy, or simply can’t secrete enough insulin for some other reason.  When that happens, glucose builds up in the bloodstream because the cells aren’t able to utilize it.  The result?  High blood sugar or “diabetes”.

The simple solution is to learn how to jumpstart your pancreas, but that’s often easier said than done.  One reason for this is there are several different types of diabetes and a wide range of symptoms that must be controlled.  Common diabetes symptoms include extreme thirst and hunger, changes in vision, dry skin, unexplained changes in weight, and swelling, just to name a few.

Many diabetes symptoms can lay dormant for years, and a large percentage of diabetics are completely unaware they have the disease.  A test measuring blood glucose levels is needed to confirm the presence of diabetes.

There is also a genetic aspect to diabetes and there are several risk factors which can make you more susceptible to the disease.  These include things like a family history of diabetes, being overweight and/or obese, and living a fairly inactive or sedentary lifestyle.  Rarely, diabetes can also be caused by surgical procedures and certain drugs.

Diabetes is typically classified into one of three categories:  type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes.  Type 1 diabetes occurs when your body is unable to produce enough insulin on its own.  Therefore, it often requires insulin injections and supplements.

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of the disease.  With this form, your body typically produces enough insulin, but it doesn’t get used properly so your blood sugar levels remain high.  The good news is, type 2 diabetes can often be controlled and even reversed through specific diet and exercise protocols tailored to each individual.  The Diabetes Destroyer is one of the most popular protocols used successfully by many diabetics to reverse type 2 diabetes.

The third main type of diabetes is called gestational diabetes and occurs in about 5 to 10 percent of pregnancies.  It typically disappears after the birth of a child, but can be dangerous to both mother and baby while still inside the womb.  Women who experience gestational diabetes are often more likely to develop other forms of diabetes later in life.

Diabetes, when left unchecked, can be a deadly disease.  But it is also one of the most easily managed and controlled.  Better yet, the disease responds well to natural protocols and can often be reversed without resorting to potentially harmful drugs and medications.

Unfortunately, most of these ailments are caused by our poor way of eating. Research indicates that almost every individual consumes processed foods that are full of chemicals, cholesterol, unhealthy fat and sugar. This together with accumulation of environmental toxins puts stress to various systems in the body resulting to a weak metabolism and low immunity. This eventually exposes the body to such diseases.

To live healthy and lose weight, it is important to consume healthy diet like our pre-agricultural ancestors. If you compare our ways of eating and that of our ancestors, you will notice a great difference. Although today it is difficult to maintain a diet which we are genetically adapted to due to scarcity and harsh economy, it is important if we need to live a better life to consume a diet that is rich in protein, complex carbohydrates, minerals, healthy fats and vitamins. In addition, we need to add more fruits and vegetables to our diet plus adequate amount of water.

Diet to help you lose weight

To lose weight, you need to control your calories intake. For example, if your daily calories intake is approximate 1500, you need to reduce this to the recommended daily intake of 1200 for women and 1350 for men. In addition, you need to choose your food intake wisely. This means you need to avoid as much as possible foods high in calories and those rich in fat. Apart from that you need to consume a diet that will make you feel satisfied for long and reduce your food intake. This way, you will be able to shift your metabolism from glucose burning to fat burning.

To lose adequate amount of weight, you need to first consider high fiber foods. This is because fiber takes long to digest and will make you feel full for long. This eventually will control your food intake. Such foods which you need to include in your weight loss diet include;

  • Fruits and vegetables: Fruits include strawberries, apples, plums, nectarines, berries and oranges. When it comes to vegetables, you need to include green veggies of all kinds. Fruits and vegetables are important since apart from being rich in minerals, antioxidants and vitamins, both have low calories content.
  • Whole grains: You need to try high fiber cereals, whole-wheat pasta, brown rice oatmeal, air-popped popcorn, multigrain bread among others.

Healthy Lifestyle

How To Live A Healthy Lifestyle

Living a healthy lifestyle is something that everyone wants, but not a lot of people are able to achieve. For years, it was very difficult for me to find the right balance of health because I was either overdoing my diet or not caring at all. Fortunately, there is a way to live a balanced lifestyle without depriving yourself from all the delicious treats that’s around you. Understand that being healthy is a lifestyle change and not a drastic modification that you only do for a couple weeks.

– Organization

I found that organizing my diet and exercise routine to be one of the most helpful things that got be in the best shape of my life. I really researched all the nutrients that I needed to maintain a balanced diet and gave myself cheat meals once a week to allow myself to feed my cravings. Knowing what you put in your body is so important especially if you want to lose a lot of weight. Try your best to write down what you eat so that you can really pin point the items you don’t have to consume everyday.

– Slow Progression

The goal is not to lose the most weight in short periods of time, it is to be able to lose the weight and keep it off for a long period of time. My best advice is to not focus on other people’s progress because it will just make you lose motivation. Focus on how far you have already gotten and not how far you still have to go, because that is when you’ll continue to keep the determination to stay healthy alive.

– Cutting Down Unnecessary Food Items

Cutting down on sugar, sodium, junk food, and fast food is probably the hardest part, but it certainly is not impossible. All you have to do is start making your meals at home opposed to buying meals at restaurants. This will also help you to cut down on calories as well. If you feel like you don’t have much time to cook, I personally would recommend that you make all your meals one day of the week and just package them and store them in the fridge. You will find that this is the most convenient and most effective way to eat healthy.

Lastly, don’t over think the process, because the one thing that always got me to go back to my old habits was thinking too much and not focusing on the bigger picture. Remember, fitness and a great physique are just by-products of a healthy lifestyle.

Fitness Experience

Making Fitness A Priority

For me, my fitness has always been something that has been a major priority in my life. While some people might see spending so much of their time and energy devoted to fitness as a waste, I see it as the opposite. While I may spend more time exercising and planning my diet than the average person, I also feel that I get more out of the rest of my time. I feel so much more energetic and full of life than most other people around me, and I couldn’t imagine living any other way.

It’s also important to remember that it’s not like I am really depriving myself when it comes to my diet. I’m not hungry all the time, in fact I’m usually quite full and satisfied after eating a meal. This is because I don’t diet in the traditional sense that most people think of. I don’t cut my portions, I simply make smarter choices when deciding what types of foods to eat. The great thing about this approach to dieting is that you don’t have to count calories, and you don’t have to eat small portions. In fact you can make fitness a priority when dieting just by paying attention to how you eat. For example when I start my morning I usually have some egg whites, turkey bacon, and a small bowl of oatmeal. This is a very filling meal that is loaded with nutritional value. It’s not necessarily low in calories, but it’s still healthy because it provides my body with the right kinds of calories. It’s a balanced blend of low fat protein and slow digesting carbohydrates that helps me to get my day started the right way.

While I used breakfast as my example it’s certainly not the only time I choose to eat healthy. I continue to make fitness a priority throughout the day by making smart choices. I make sure that my meals are all high in lean protein and slow digesting carbohydrates, and I avoid junk food. The empty calories found in soda, candy, and other types of highly processed foods are the worst things you can eat, and they will have a major negative impact upon your fitness. If you want to make fitness a priority in your life the first step is to clean up your diet. Making smart choices at each meal can help you to get in shape and stay in shape.
