Following a Good Diet to Lose Weight

Today, many individuals are affected by various body disorders and conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, certain types of cancer, heart attacks, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes among other ailments. Unfortunately, most of these ailments are caused by our poor way of eating. Research indicates that almost every individual consumes processed foods that are full of chemicals, cholesterol, unhealthy fat and sugar. This together with accumulation of environmental toxins puts stress to various systems in the body resulting to a weak metabolism and low immunity. This eventually exposes the body to such diseases.

To live healthy and lose weight, it is important to consume healthy diet like our pre-agricultural ancestors. If you compare our ways of eating and that of our ancestors, you will notice a great difference. This is because our ancestors used to eat diet that comprise of fresh meat, seeds, vegetables and fruits. Although today it is difficult to maintain a diet which we are genetically adapted to due to scarcity and harsh economy, it is important if we need to live a better life to consume a diet that is rich in protein, complex carbohydrates, minerals, healthy fats and vitamins. In addition, we need to add more fruits and vegetables to our diet plus adequate amount of water.

 

Diet to help you lose weight

To lose weight, you need to control your calories intake. For example, if your daily calories intake is approximate 1500, you need to reduce this to the recommended daily intake of 1200 for women and 1350 for men. In addition, you need to choose your food intake wisely. This means you need to avoid as much as possible foods high in calories and those rich in fat. Apart from that you need to consume a diet that will make you feel satisfied for long and reduce your food intake. This way, you will be able to shift your metabolism from glucose burning to fat burning.

To lose adequate amount of weight, you need to first consider high fiber foods. This is because fiber takes long to digest and will make you feel full for long. This eventually will control your food intake. Such foods which you need to include in your weight loss diet include;

  • Fruits and vegetables: Fruits include strawberries, apples, plums, nectarines, berries and oranges. When it comes to vegetables, you need to include green veggies of all kinds. Fruits and vegetables are important since apart from being rich in minerals, antioxidants and vitamins, both have low calories content.
  • Whole grains: You need to try high fiber cereals, whole-wheat pasta, brown rice oatmeal, air-popped popcorn, multigrain bread among others.
  • Beans: To lose weight, you need to consume food rich in protein such as different kinds of beans including lentils, split peas, pinto beans and black beans

Food to avoid

To be able to lose adequate amount of weight, you need to avoid certain foods. Such foods include trans-fats, sugar, vegetable oils, artificial sweeteners, high fat products and processed foods. Instead, eat lean meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds, root vegetables such as potatoes and healthy fats such as olive oil and coconut oil. However, eat such foods in the right proportion and drink adequate amount of water.
